New Project!

Yesterday we went on a little shopping spree "down the hill" and went to my favorite store, JoAnn's. The hubby took the boys on a tour of the store so I actually got to LOOK at stuff. I salivated over all of the different fabrics and felt all of the cozy knits that I'm way to scared to actually use. Maybe someday I'll get up the nerve. Not only did I get a few boring but necessary supplies like elastic and thread, but I also got two new patterns and fabric! Yay! This just adds to the ever growing list of projects I have. I just have too much I want to do and not enough time to do it. However here is what I will be working on soon.

I know it may be a little old ladyish but I wanted something more classic. Plus look at that ruffle front. Who can resist ruffles?

Isn't this the perfect summer dress? I may make it with several different fabrics! Love it!

I can't wait to start work on both of these. I have the perfect fabric for each that I'm just dying to work with. You'll just have to wait until later to see them! Until then I have a few things I am working on for the fam. Can't show you yet since they are supposed to be surprises and since my family is probably the only people reading this at the moment, that would definitely ruin the surprise.

Well until next time!

I've joined the bandwagon!

So I've done it. I now have a blog like the rest of the world. For those of you reading this (probably just my husband because I made him and maybe my mom) I'd like to take a moment to explain what this is all about. Since I've never had a blog before I'm assuming that is how you have to start. I've recently started sewing. Basically to save my sanity during my husband's deployment. And who would have thought that I would actually enjoy it? And that it would be INSANELY addicting?

Well now that the hubby is finally home, I am still sane (barely) and still sewing. I made a statement to my mom a while back that in order to save us money I am not going to buy any more new clothes. I am going to sew new clothes or embellish or refashion finds at thrift stores. So far I'm pretty limited in my sewing skills, since I've only been doing it for a couple months. That means skirts are pretty much the extent of my skill set. Not the ones with real waists, mind you, the elastic ones. I'll get there though, hopefully. My wardrobe depends on it. So as time goes on I hope to have some success to show you and also I'm sure you will get a kick out of all of my follies.

Feel free to give me tips along the way. Actually PLEASE give me tips along the way. God knows I need it.
